Bright Sparks

Bright sparks, creative hands, young minds. Working with three local artists - Colm Docherty, Sam Jones and Sandi Kiehlmann.....

...local kids explore their creativity - discovering textures, drawing and sketching built  and natural environment, using natural materials as artistic tools and resources and more....

These workshops were run as part of the beautiful and extraordinary Julie Brook exhibition at the Burgh Hall Dunoon - art inspiring art inspiring our bright sparks.

Embra

Cold, grey, dreich but beautiful - skylines and roofs making exquisite shapes in the glowering sky, astonishing architecture, pigeons with attitude and kids bouncing with vigour, vim and gallusness. This was half-term, that was Edinburgh.....

Lights, Camera....

...Action, during a fun filled, immensely creative two day Workshop for ARC (Arts and Recreation Club - wonderous Summer School for local kids at Glendaruel Village Hall!). Film and Photography Fun was the order of the day, second year for some of the bright young things, and they threw themselves into it with relish.

By the end of the second day the kids had developed, story-boarded, rehearsed, filmed and edited a thrilling, chilling Zombie Horror (Zombie Glen), whilst a Heist Movie is in the can but still getting it's final edits; there were also a multitude of fantastic and inspiring stills images. Can't wait for year three!

Animating Teens

Dunoon - it's a hive of creativity, didn't you know? Recently, a group of talented teens got together at the fabulous Burgh Hall to create an original piece of animation for the forthcoming, inaugural Dunoon Film Festival

Working as a team, with some help from a few willing adults and expertly guided by experienced film maker IƱigo Garrido of OaksBark, the kids spent a productive day working through the creative processes that go into making a short piece of animation.

The finished piece will be screened during the festival, which runs from 14th to 16th June - having spent the day documenting the workshop and seeing the kid's enthusiasm and creativity, I can't wait to see the results!

So.....how was it for you?

Christmas and Hogmanay done and gone, time to take stock of  2012 after a bit of breathing space/perspective.

So, good? Bad?

For me, a bit of a mix - lots of great photo-ing (events, commissions and a glorious wedding); a fantastic holiday with family and friends in deepest Suffolk, lots of cooking and baking, catching up with old friends and relatives from distant shores; plus, on the down side, a partial toe amputation-ouch!

Anyway, here's a tiny selection of my favourite images from last year and roll on 2013 - Enjoy!
